The fourth generation, which includes the new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for sale, is notable for its innovative features and exceptional powertrains. Take the 2024 version, for example. This model year offers modern amenities and hybrid efficiency that set it apart.
The 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the dictionary definition of a quality Chevy truck and is perhaps the best year for Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ownership. Quiet interior, comfortable temperatures, and well-made seating allow the Silverado 1500 to serve as a workhorse and a home away from home.

Worst Model Years for the Chevy Silverado 1500
The worst years for Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickups typically aren't actually that bad, so take the title with a grain of salt. Instead, they've been known to have issues with transmission or engines – fixable problems. In most cases, these models can serve you well, but we suggest taking a closer look at any find to make sure they've been properly reconditioned.
2019
The 2019 Silverado 1500 is the first step into the fourth generation of these light-duty trucks. These models have been reported as having some issues, notably with their tires and specific safety systems. So, while they're still a joy to drive, you might want your mechanic to double-check these aspects before deciding to take one home. With the proper maintenance and care, a 2019 Silverado 1500 can be just as capable, comfortable, and reliable as any other variant.
2014
The 2014 to 2016 lineup had some reported concerns for cabin vibrations and ignition lock issues. Some models were also found with transmission problems, A/C issues, and hydraulic pains. Overall, the improvements to technology and convenience features over the second generation are notable, but this was a growing period for the Silverado 1500.
2011
This model marks the end of the experimental GMT900 phase from 2007 to 2011. Specific trucks may have had suspension and steering problems that could reduce stability on your drive. It's far from a bad year, featuring a potent engine and strong resale, but please inspect it carefully. GM provided a fix for its issues, so make sure to request a detailed vehicle history report to ensure it received the necessary upgrades.
2008
Of the older, more retro-feeling Chevy Silverado 1500 models, 2008 had some minor issues that made it a bit less consistent. The biggest issue with this year was in the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system, which caused a handful of Silverado 1500 trucks to burn more oil than usual. That being said, those drivers who avoided this generation's issues love its quality, making it a rewarding pick when you stay on top of routine upkeep.
While we've mentioned some issues with specific model years, we'd like to note that we thoroughly vet and recondition (if necessary) all used Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models before putting them up for sale. Our certified technicians use OEM-approved parts and procedures when working on all Chevrolet automobiles.

What Our Happy Customers Say About The Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I will now be a Haley Chevrolet customer for as long as I drive a Chevy. I was having transmission issues, took my Silverado 1500 to Rick Hendrick where I bought it. I explained the issues I was having and 4 days later they told me the problems were normal and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I then took my truck to Haley Chevrolet. The service staff was very professional and helpful. I explained the problem and they setup an appointment for me a week later. They called me daily to keep me informed of what was happening. Turns out my transmission was shot and needed to be replaced. I was under warranty so they helped me with a rental car and had the service done within a couple of weeks. All in all, my experience was great with Haley, and I will no longer be using Rick Hendrick for service.

Great service department that I visit for maintenance on my Chevy Silverado 1500 almost every time I use Interstate 95 and I am traveling through the area. They have taken great care of my vehicle since my first oil change and many other maintenance jobs to include radiator, transmission, brakes, front end alignment, spark plugs & wires, differential & transfer case service and warranty work on 2 occasions. Hats off to this dealership and their outstanding service department.
